National Novel Writing Month for Kids

Hey kids! Do you like to write stories or poems? Well now you can become a published author!

November is National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo for short. Come out to the library anytime during November to visit our NaNoWriMo Creation Station, where you can write your own masterpiece!

NaNoWriMo Creation Station

The Creation Station, located across from our holiday bookshelves, is filled with everything you need to write your own story or poem: inspiring books and quotes by famous authors, paper and pencils, writing tips and prompts, and reference books to help you out.

Once you've finished your story or poem, you can turn it in at the Children's Services desk or even email it to us at helser@mrlinfo.org. Make sure to include your Name, Age, and School in your submission. At the end of November, we will take all the submissions and publish them in an anthology that will circulate in the library collection!

Also, several local children's authors will be visiting the library on Thursday, November 7, and Saturday, November 23. Stop by to hear them read their stories and talk about the writing process. You can find all the details in our NaNoWriMo flyer:

We can't wait to read your amazing stories and poems! Happy writing!
